Our History
VistaBank started with a simple idea, "What if we view banking differently than the big banks?" If the bank is owned by the community, the money stays here, works here and grows here. And, if it's run by people who live in and care about the community, the decisions will be made by people who understand what's best for our families, neighbors and businesses. It was a simple yet powerful idea....
VistaBank was organized to provide community banking services to the
Aiken, Columbia and Conway markets and is the only commercial bank
headquartered in Aiken, South Carolina. The Bank received preliminary
approval from The State Board of Financial Institutions on June 8, 2007
and the FDIC on August 28, 2007.
Banking operations were begun in January 2008 at 128 Laurens Street, NW
in Aiken, South Carolina and 1219 Assembly Street in Columbia, South
Carolina. Our Conway operations was opened in July 2009. The bank offers
a full line of deposit products and services, commercial, construction,
real estate, and consumer.
Paul R. Dusenbury, President and CEO stated “We believe the high turnover and more rigid style of large, regional banks have left customers, specifically small-to-medium businesses, professionals, contractors and consumers, ready to change their banking relationships,” said Dusenbury. “We believe that a community bank with local management is well positioned to establish relationships with these customers and we also believe that the Aiken, Columbia and Conway markets are poised for continued strong growth.” He continued “VistaBank will distinguish itself by providing the level of personal service often associated with a community bank while offering the technology and skilled advisors to deliver sophisticated financial products and services”. “We intend to create a banking culture that truly differentiates us from others, “ said Dusenbury. “Others have made the same statement, but few actually accomplish it. We’re committed to doing things differently and believe we will effectively execute on that commitment. All management and loan decisions will be made locally, a difference that we believe will be readily apparent to our customers.”
